Lexus has revealed the first official images of the next generation IS, ahead of its debut at the Detroit Motor Show later this month.
It’s clear to see the car has kept some of the design cues from the LF-CC Concept, which wowed crowds at the Paris Motor Show and influenced the designers.
The main cue at the front of the new IS, is the “spindle front grille arrangement that has become a hallmark of all new Lexus models”.
Go inside and you see Lexus have incorporated clean and elegant lines, with an “ergonomically ideal environment created for the driver.”
Lexus says: “The new-design driver’s seat is more comfortable and provides better lateral support. The seat hip point and the angle of the new steering wheel – inspired by the LFA – are both lower, and the steering wheel’s reach adjustment has been increased, giving a more sporting driving position.”
The LFA was a car, which didn’t have a long shelf life, so its good to know some of the design and driving position have inspired the new Lexus IS.
Further up the range is the ‘IS F’ model. This exclusive model boasts a ‘special grille’ and front bumper design. As well as the cosmetic details, Lexus have added an exclusive seat design, which provides extra support and stability for the driver, with the sportier credentials.
In another direct reference to the LFA supercar, the IS F Sport features a driver’s meter with a moving centre ring.
