Fourth generation Conti GT revealed

Bentley has revealed the Continental GT and GTC, with prices starting at £236,000 and available now.

First Bentley to have PHEV power.

Entering its fourth generation, the Continental GT is the first Bentley to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Called ‘Ultra Performance,’ a 4.0-litre V8 engine with 584bhp twinned with a 25.9kWh battery and gives 771bhp.

A range of fifty miles is available on speeds of up to 87mph. The battery can be charged in just under three hours via a 11kW charger.

Four drive modes are available – Pure EV, Electric Boost, Regenerative Braking and Charge Mode.

The new Continental GT is an evolution with a muscular but relaxed design with smoother lines. Hitting you first is the single front headlights and is the biggest change in the design, since the original launched in 2002. ‘Eyebrows’ on top of the headlamps feature 120 matrix LEDs which are digitally controlled and adapt to every situation.

22-inch alloy wheels take inspiration from a tiger and are available with either polished accents in gloss black or silver.

As with every Bentley, the interior is quintessentially a GT car. The seats have 20-way adjustment and feature a Wellness setting.

Dark chrome meets with the door handles, switches with Mulliner offering further personalisation options. The Bentley Rotating Display with a 12.3-inch display has three toggle analogue dials and handcrafted, in Crewe nonetheless, veneer.

Bentley claim the technology is a ‘significant’ step forward in the luxury segment and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with over-the-air updates for the maps included. Connected services including remote charging and cabin pre-conditioning are also available.

Both coupé and GTC models are available to order simultaneously. The seven-bow roof is available in seven distinct colours – Black, Blue, Clarec, Dark Brown, Dark Grey Metallic, Grey and Tweed – and can be dropped at speeds up to 30mph in just 19 seconds.

Order books are open now with prices starting at £236,000.
